Scientific and practical conference "Museum Pedagogy - Challenges, Present Day and Perspectives"
On September 29, 2015 scientific and practical conference "Museum Pedagogy - Challenges, Present Day and Perspectives" opened at the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve. The participants of the Forum concentrated their attention on such issues as developing museum pedagogy, improving its realization instruments, interpreting historical and cultural heritage aimed at using this potential in the processes of education and upbringing of children.
The Conference opened its work with the welcoming remarks of its honorary guests and National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve administration members. Among them there were Mr. Sergiy PIVOVAROV, Deputy General Director of the Kyiv-pechersk Lavra Preserve, Mr. Oleg TOPILKO, Head of the Museum and Educational work Division of the Preserve and Mr. Olexiy KARAMANOV, assistant professor at the Lviv University.
The main purpose of the museum and pedagogical conference was to discuss the ways of generalizing the acquired experience and determining patterns, methods and forms of activities in museum education. Besides, the participants of the Forum gathered to discuss how the main pillars of the pedagogy - its scientific, cognitive, informative and educational functions should transform to meet the conditions a particular museum institution faces today.
Scientific reports were presented by the 19 participants of the Conference. The authors of the presentations represented leading museums of Ukraine, administrative and teaching staff of the secondary institutions and secondary specialized agencies, educators, psychologists, heads and teachers of pre-schools and out-of-school educational establishments, representatives of public organizations from Kyiv, Lviv, Kirovograd, Chuguyiv, Kramatorsk, and Kremenets.
The conference participants have discussed the main issues that make the sense of museum and pedagogical work, such as:
- modern functioning context of museum and educational projects and programs;
- best practices of museum institutions, formation and usage of interactive methods of museum pedagogy;
- cooperation of museums with educational institutions, enriching school youth with scientific knowledge and research skills;
- the newest methods of popularizing historical and cultural heritage among the students’ youth;
- museum server opportunities and possible development areas; the usage of information and multimedia technologies in the academic process; merits and demerits of these technologies;
- design and creation of virtual museums, exhibitions, catalogues, distant museum and educational services; creating museum and educational communities, clubs and partner groups in social networks;
- specific features of the conceptual and artistic design of museum exhibitions and expositions for children and youth audiences;
- experience in obtaining grants for projects in museum and educational spheres;
- information management, non-profit marketing, the use of PR-technologies in museums’ scientific and educational projects.
