UNESCO delegation visited the National Preserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” in the framework of the programmatic mission to Ukraine
On July 7, members of the UNESCO’s delegation: Ms Krista Pikkat, Mr Tural Mustafayev, and Mr Dov Lynch, who came to Ukraine with a programmatic mission, visited the National Preserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra”. The purpose of the Mission is to monitor the current situation in Ukraine in the aspects of UNESCO's mandate.
The members of the mission were introduced to the measures taken to secure the movable and immovable monuments of the Preserve. The delegation visited the monuments that are under restoration and need further funding to complete the restoration works. The parties discussed the process of packing and storing the Preserve collection’s items in war settings, the problematic aspects of the Preserve activity caused by Russian armed aggression, and the urgent needs.
